Swamp Talisman

The Swamp Talisman is a very important item used to create the Tree Portal needed to access The Betweenlands. There are six variations - The four disassembled pieces of the talisman, the talisman itself, and a Linked version of the talisman.

Accessing the Betweenlands

The player must obtain four Swamp Talisman pieces by killing Dark Druids around a Druid Circle. Then, one of each of the types of pieces must be assembled in the Dark Druid Altar to create the Swamp Talisman. The talisman can also be crafted using materials from the Betweenlands, in case it is lost later on.

A Portal Tree containing four Tree Portals to The Betweenlands can then be created by pressing the 'use' key with the Swamp Talisman on any Sapling, provided there is enough space.

Portal Linking

The Swamp Talisman can be used to link together two Tree Portals between any other dimension and The Betweenlands, as long as they are within 500 blocks relative of each other in terms of the coordinates in both dimensions. Two linked Tree Portals will always transport players and other entities to each other, regardless of what portal they originally transported to.

First, press the 'use' key on the initial Tree Portal (whether it be the main Portal Tree structure or a smaller portal) with the Swamp Talisman, turning it into a Linked Swamp Talisman with the portal's coordinates stored within (visible as part of its tooltip). Then, go to the other Tree Portal you want to link it with and press the 'use' key on it with the linked talisman.

The Swamp Talisman cannot be linked to the same Tree Portal, nor to two portals in the same dimension, and one of the portals must be in The Betweenlands. Additionally, pressing the 'use' key with a linked talisman anywhere, no matter whether it successfully links the portals or not, will cause it to become unlinked again.

Portal Repairing

The Swamp Talisman can reignite a four-by-three frame of Portal Frame blocks by pressing the 'use' key with it on the base of the frame's center. The center will become an accessible Tree Portal to The Betweenlands, and whatever Portal Frame blocks were used will be rearranged into the usual pattern surrounding each portal. This is helpful should a part of the frame of an actual portal end up being destroyed.
